Honda GL500

Silverwing

Pics shown with kind permission from owner

Taken on by AVP Customs as needing a little TLC and needs a rewire - repaint - disc conversion and perhaps a little more.

First Job is to sort out the wiring loom......................!!!

Tank., side panels and mudguards removed -  preparation for paint

Cleaned up forks etc although still a bit of pitting on one leg - also new front hugger.

Had to remove all of the front etc because Head Bearings were worn  and need replacement.

(click on pic below to see Workshop vid on head bearings.)

                     Part 1                                                     Part 2

While waiting for the bearings to arrive - started work on the disc conversion

The 'puller' aids the removal of the stud flange

The same done to the other side and then the axle is ready for the new disc conversion

Trike is stripped down - engine serviced and cleaned - exhaust system reconditioned -and now all ready for new parts and paint!

Started to prep up the Tank etc

Lots of sanding

Also filled a couple of dents

loads more sanding to do!!

The Tank is patched up and filled

Decided to change forks for a pair in good condition and but this also means changing the yokes.

The new set is on the right.

Then After a discussion with the client - the chrome front hugger was ditched and a new one made. Also made a new light unit and started to 'mock up' the paintwork.

The trike now looks like this after a bit of AVP Magic!

Now having that 'Alien Trike' look!

Started the artwork - early stages yet.

Small vid showing Trike firing up. Starts on first push of button now.

Little more work - and then MOT.

The Disc conversion caused me some headaches and sleepless nights  - problems with lack of pressure etc.

But eventually after fitting a landrover master cylinder - It passed MOT!!

And so back to the Artwork

Tank just needs lacquer and side panels need a coat of paint.

Hope you like it Barney!!

Nearly done................

Well Barney picked up his trike today and rode it home.

He was well chuffed.

Went from this to this

Just had the news that 3 days after picking up his Trike, Barney was hit by a car totalling his Trike and with him spending a few day's in Hospital.

Get Well Soon Mate!
